Abstract

in the present study, in vitro lipid peroxidation was studied in ınice (B/W}fed diet s containiııg high levels of ma ize oil orfish oil (metıhaden oil). The results indicated t hat qııalitative and qııantitative differences in dietary fa t intake exerted an effect ııpoıı the vitamin E coııcentratioıı and membrane lipid peroxidation in ınice. in mice receiving the fish oil diets, membrane lipid peroxidation \vas greatly increased (p<0.005) with a decrease in vitamin E coııcentration (p<().()06). Furthernıore, in the fish-oil-fed aninmiş membrane lipid peroxidizability was greatly enhaııced (p<0.005). lıı general the data sııggested that optimum vitamin E intake as an antioxidant and celi membrane stabilizing agent, should be maintained
