Feeding Habits, Energy Consumptions and Expenditures Of Adult Women

This study had been conducted on 25 - 40 years old vvomen vvho were graduated from high schools and working on various jobs at Hacettepe Universities and Hodpitals. The aims of this study were to evaluate the energy reguirements and to find out the effects of the factors on the body weight, such as feeding habits, daily energy consumption levels and energy expenditures according to the vvomen’s physical activities. The average daily energy consumption was 1825 ± 496.4 Cals. and the energy expenditure of the subjects was 294 ± 116.6 Cals. Daily energy reguirements of the subjects were found between 1900-2300 Cals., average 2100 Cals., according to their daily energy expenditures. The general feeding habits of the subjects were evaluated as bad, medium and good levels. Their body weights were related to their feeding frequencies. As a result, 3 or 4 times feeding in a day can be recommended and daily energy reguirements must be distrubuted equally to meals or between meals. The subjects spending 8 hrs. of a day at work have less energy expenditures because of adjusting themselves to work, must keep their body weights by increasing phsical activities by walking, cimnasium, running and ect.
