Determınatıon Of The Dımensıons Of Obesıty In Patıents Admıtted To The Dıet Polyclınıc Of The Advanced Specıalızed Hospıtal, Ankara

Abstract

This study was carried out in the diet polyclinic o f the Advanced Specialized Hospital, Ankara, Turkey in between December 20,1993 and January 7, 1994 to define and compare patients admitted for obesity correlated with the known disease and those with no known disease as controls. Of 232 patients, 170 were the study group (73.3 percent) and 62 control group (26.7 percent). The mean age o f the study group was 52.6 year and that o f the control group 43.6 (p < 0.05). Overweight and obesity risk in the 50-59 year age group o f the study group was found to be 25 times more than the control group (p < 0. 05).
