Knee height, body weight, height, formula, young womenAbstract
This study was carried out in women aged 17-24 years, to estimate height and body weight from knee height measurement and comparing the data with measured height and weight values and examine the validity and accuracy of the formulas. The mean height (cm), weight (kg) and body mass index (BMI) (kg/m2) measurements and mean values o f height and weight est'ımated by fo rmulas were as follows; 55.8 ± 0.73 kg, 160.5 ± 0.51 cm, 21.7 ± 0.27 kg/m2 and 52.7 ± 0.78 kg, 159.2 ± 0.42 cm, respeetively. The Cornbach a coeffıcients were R,= 0.89 (p< 0.05) and R2= 0.86 (p< 0.05) for normal and calculated weights and heights, respeetively. According to these findings high agreement between measured and estimated weight and height values were defıned. In conclusion, measııring knee height in young people whose height and weight could not be measured, may be an appropriate method as in elderly.
