In the early years, it was postulated that fo o d intake is linked to the amount o f stored energy in the body. Following years, several peptids such as cholecystokinin, bombesin, gastrin-releasing pep tid e and glucagon produced from the gastrointestinal tract were identified as satiety singnaling. After recognation of leptin, many studies were carried on various other peptıdes produced from adipose tissue and digestive tract are also act as food in take regulators . Furthermore, studies focused on gene mutations resulting dej'ect in these peptides.
