Medical Nutrition Therapy in Diabetes Camp Management

Abstract

Camps have been an important part oj comprehensive diabetes management strategies for over 80 years and they have evolved to assist children with the adaptation to diabetes in a variety o f ways. In addition to the recreational goals, camps provide respite fo r parents and care givers, the opportunity fo r diabetic children to develop social contacts with their peers, the provision o f psychological support and the acquisition of knowledge and practical management skills through experimental learning. The importance of medical nutrition therapy in diabetic camp management was to evaluate in this review.
