Nutrition Status Before and After Gastric Band-Gastric Bypass (Redo-Surgery: A Case Report

Bariatric surgery; causes satiety by reducing the appetite, by restricting the intake of food, by causing deterioration of the absorption of nutrients, by increasing energy expenditure constitutes an effective weight loss. However, decrease in quality of alimentation, will reduce weight loss by increasing vomiting, restricting food intake and leading to malnutrition. Dietitians who regulate the feeding program should consider changing of dietary habits, consumption of low-energy food; replacement, orientation, density and volume of food types, vitamin and mineral support, protein intake and physical activity taking into consideration of interdisciplinary evaluations. In order to target and develop the appropriate diet, each patient should be lifetime controlled by dietitian. After surgery, if behavioural modification related to nutritional habits and physical activity wasn’t performed, weight regaining will occur in later years.
