Abstract

According to the results of the researches having been carried out in recent years, adequate amount of fiber in diet is recommended fo r health. Economically developed societies consume foods mostly refined rather than natural forms, such as, fru it juices instead of fresh fruits, sugar, polished rice and white flour instead of who!e wheat products, meats and eggs rather than dried legumes. Such diets insufficient in fiber, althcugh they may be adequate and balanced in energy and the nutrients. Consumption of sufficient amount of fiber by ıncluding fresh fruits and vegetables, whole vvheat products and dried legumes in diet, incidance of diseases called «Civilization disease» vvould be reduced in population, so that people may have opportunity to live longer and healthy.
