Abstract

A survey was undertaken in orphanages of Bursa like the similar ones which were carried out in several regions of the country. Total 285 children and youth under, the age of 18 were included in the survey. Of these 191 were boys and 94 were girls. Data were collected by antropometric measurements and clinical examinations. Malnutrition was defined according to Gomez standart. Result indicated that 66.7 % of children have signs of malnutrition. Malnutrition defined according to height and weight were mostly second and third degree, while chestjcircumference showed third degree malnutrition. According to the result of the survey malnutrition is stili an important problem in Bursa area.
