Nutritional Status of Students who Attended Health Service Department of Ankara University

The seven hundred and fifty üniversity students, ages 17 to 29 were served as subjects in order to study ıtheir nutritional habits and some nutritional problems associated "vvith it. For this reason, a 3 - day fo od intake was recorded by using a questionnaire. According to the results of the study, the average daily energy and nutrients intake fo r girls were : 1982 cal energy, 51-5 g protein, 468.1 mg calcium, 12.3 mg iron, 1073 IU vitamin A, 1.04 mg tiamin, 0.78 mg riboflavin, 11.33 mg niacin and 236 8 mg vitamin C. For boys : 2728 cal energy, 72.7 g protein, 559.7 mg calcium, 17.84 mg iron, 15114 IU vitamin A, 1.54 mg tiamin, 0.79 mg riboflavin, 15.42 mg niacin and 281.7 mg vitamin C. The majority o f the students in both sexes were found to be in their normal weight. In addition, while undervveight students were consuming less energy, obese and slightly obese students consumed more energy than normal and undervveight students.
