Abstract

Obesity is a global health problem that is increasing in prevalence. The World Health Organization characterizes obesity as a pandemic issue, with a higher prevalence in females than males. Thus, many pregnant patients are seen with high body mass index (BMI). Obesity during pregnancy is considered a high-risk state because it is associated with many complications. Bariatric surgery is the most effective way for obesity and cronic dieases. All patients after bariatric surgery have to take vitamins and microelements which prevent micronutrients’ deficiency. Pregnant women have an increased requirement for microelements and vitamins, while in those who have undergone bariatric procedures it is even more important. In this case report, the strategy of nutrition in pregnancy after bariatric surgery operation was discussed on a case.
