The Relalionship Between Food Habits and Dental Health of 3 -1 2 Years Old Children

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to find out the effect of food habits on dental health. The study was carried out on 200 children aged 3 -12 years old (93 girls, 107 boys) attended as patients to the pedodontics of Dental Health Faculty in Gazi University. The results of tooth examination were showed that total tooth decay was 384, filled tooth was 330, lost tooth was 50 and DMFT index was 3.8. Ali of the children have eaten sugar everday, while 73 % were eating jam, honey and concentrated grape juice. High level of sugar and sweet consumption at the same time are the poor nutritional habits for the dental care that may be the main causes of high prevalence of dental decays.
