Abstract

The effects of the dietary fibers enriched with natural foods on the metabolism of carbohydrate and lipids have been investigated on hyperlipidemic subjects some of whom were diabetics. In conclusion, an increased fiber content from 12-15 grams to 33 - 47 grams with natural foods was not effective to decrease the serum lipids except triglycerides, but low cholesterol diet vvas effective to decrease the serum lipids.
