Abstract

Changes in physiology and psychology, as well as nutritional hab its of 198 vvomen living in different parts of Ankara have been investigated during the menstrual cyclcs. A correlation \vas found betvveen age - vveight and menstrual duration - frequency of subjeets. Physiological and psychological changes before and during m en struation have been found to be statistically significant. The commonly seen ones betvveen these changes are iıritability, distress, oedema, pain, constipation and diarrea. Their nutritional habits during the eyele have been also changed. Before and during menstra tio n , an inerease is observed in carbohydrates consumption but a fte r menstruation, this inerease is seen in protein consumption. Moreover, energy intake as vvell as vveight of the subjects vvere also inereased before and during menstration comparing to that of the befere m en stratio n value. Making a suitable changes of consumed diet during menstrual eyeles may be helpful to diminish some complications seen commonly.
