Effects Of Food Habıts On Gout

This research was carried out on 18 women and 62 men, who attended to diet polyclinics of The University of Hacettepe Hospital, The Military Medical Academy of Gülhane, The University of Ankara Ibni Sina Hospital. The effects of food habits on gout has been investigated in this study. 87.5 % of these subjects \vere obese and have low activity (p < 0.05). The plasma uric acid levels o the subjects has found to be higher than the normal range (3 -6 mg/dl). Mereover these subjects were suffering from hypertension and coronary heart disease. It was found that; sugar, bread and cereal exchanges, fat.meat, alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages consumption vvere higher than recommended levels (p < 0.05). A relationship between food consumption and vveight gain has also been observed in this subjects.
