Abstract

This s tudy has been carried out on 27 wrestlers in Istanbul. All the food and beverage consumed in three days by the wrestlers during the camp period has been taken for the zinc analyses. Mean zinc co n sump tio n of the wrestlers were 23.2 + 3.29 mg/daily which was sufficient for the ad u lt req u iremen t (15 mg/daily). Hair and s e rum zinc levels were 159.53 + 25.50 mg g and 85.55 + 9.47 mg/cll respectively. We concluded tha t zinc status of the wrestlers were sufficient and th e re were no need to make any supplementation.
