Abstract

The obesity which is seen widespread in many developing countries is also the most important nutritional problem in our country, especially among adult women. This research had been conducted on 400 adult women. 51.5% of whom applied were between 35-54 years old and 79.6% were house-wives, while 50.7% of these subjects were obese, 34.0% were mild obese. 60.5% of these subjects said that they had gained weight at the end of the pregnancy period and 13.6% at the end of the menapause period. It has been found out that the rate of obesity is 57.8% among the women who have given four or more births, however this rate is 26.2% among the women who have given only one. 39.6% of our subjects who started having menstruation between the ages of 11-12 were obese or mild obese.
