The Effect Of The Nutrition Education Perıod On The Physıcal Condıtıons, Nutrition Knowledge and Food Habıts Of Pregnant Women

This study had been done in Dr. Zekai Tahir Burak Matemity Hospital to find out the effect of continuing nutrition education on the physical conditions, nutrition knovvledge and food habits of pregnant vvomen. The study vvas carried out on 60 pregnant vvomen vvho vvere in the first trimester of their pregnancies. These 60 pregnant vvomen vvere divided tvvo groups 30 by 30. First group: The nutrition education vvas performed together with the second group. Then first group of pregnant vvomen vvere asked to cali on one every month for the nutrition education. And follovving monthly education they are given a quiz to check the level of knovvledge on vvhat remained nutrition. Second group: The nutrition education vvas performed once in first three months of pregnaney period. Then pregnant vvomen vvho received educational course have been given a quiz to check the level of information aboııt nutrition they ovvn. This nutrition cducation had not been repeated for the second time later. Throughout the nutrition education energy, protein and nutritive consuming of pregnant vvomen accelerated clearly. The nutrition knovvledge of pregnant vvomen vvho vvere educated continuously vvas significantly higher then the first group (p<0.01). This figüre is statistically significant. Both the relation betvveen nutrition knovvledge and amount of animal protein received by pregnant vvomen vvho vvere educated continuously, and the relation betvveen nutrition knovvledge and level of energy consumption have been found significant. On the contrary, the relation betvveen the level of nutrition knovvledge, receiving of iron, gaining vveight and infant vveight has been found insignificant. It has been reached to the conclusion that the continuous education has played more important role on knovvledge of nutrition and dieting habits than the education given once.
