Hypertensıon Prevalence Of 40-Year-Old and Over Population In Kayseri Health Dıstrıct

Abstract

This study was carried out to find the hypertension prevalence of the population who are 40-year-old and över and determine the risk factors of hypertension in Caferbey, Talaş, Hacılar, Erkilet, Gezi, Hisarcık and Erciyes Health Centers of Kayseri Health District. This study was done on 1191 people of vvhom 468 are men (39.5 %) and the rest are vvomen. Hypertension rate is 17.4 % among men and, 23.4 % among vvomen and 20.9 % on the vvhole study group. YVhile hypertension prevalence is 9.5 % on 40-49-year-old group, this rate increases up to 36.1 % according to the age of the people (70 and ovfer). Examining the various risk factors of hypertension, the people vvho have family members vvith hypertension, vvho are fat and vvho use too much salt have a high rate of hypertension. It has been observed that there is no relationship betvveen smoking, drinking tea, coffee, alcoholic beverages and hypertension rate.
