The Prevalence Of Malnutrıtion In Children Aged 0-48 Monthsın Cubuk Area

This study was carried out on 912 children in the 0-48 month age group and their parents, chosen by 20% systematic sampling of seven health centre populations in Çubuk. The aim was to determine the prevalence of malnutrition in the children and the factors affeeting it. İt was found that 11% of the children had malnutrition, 10% mild and 1% severe. Although severe malnutrition was seen among babies aged 0-12 months (1.4%), none was found in children older than 25 months. Five per cent of the boys and 17.2% of the girls vvere malnourished. Malnutrition was less common when the economic level of the family and the education of the parents was higher and when the interval betvveen children was longer and the children were wanted by the family.
