The Measurement Of The Glysemıc Index Of Antep Fıstığı (Pistacia Vera L.) In Dıabetes Mellıtus

In this study blood glucose response was measured by glysemic index on 9 insulin dependent diabetic patients and 9 healthy volunteers. White bread which has a glysemic index 100 was chosen as a referance food. No statistical difference was found betvveen diabetic patients an healthy volunteers according to the weight, height, body mass and glysemic index (p> 0.05) Glysemic index was found in diabetic patients, 44.0 ± 24.2, and in volunteers, 53.7 ± 19.2. When glysemic index vvas measured cumulatively, the result was 44.0 ± 27.7. In conclusion, we may assumed that Antep Fıstığı (Pistacia Vera L.) which is a delicious food in the Southern east part of our country can be included in the diabetic diet regimen oving to it’s low glysemic index.
