Abstract

Food additive knowledge and related applications of 523 consumers at different socioeconomic levels in Ankara were investigated. 66.3 percent of consumers have scrutinized food labels, 12 percent of them are unaware of using purpose of food additives. 44.0 percent of them thought that ali of the food additives were harmful and 41.1 p e rcent of them thought some of the food additives were harmful. 18.1 perrent of consumers have wanted foods without any added food additives. 96.4 percent of consumers have wanted to get education about the food additives.
