A Study On Fast Foods

Several factors have contributed to the phenomenal growth of the fast-food industry. In general fast foods provide adeqeuate amounts of p ro tein carbohydrates and B-complex vitamins, most have a high nutrient density tor calories, sodium, fat and chalesterol. In addition these meals tend to be low in dietary fiber, vitamin C, B^and calcium. This study was carried on 600 students ranging in ages 16 to 18 years. 39.7 % of these students were thin, 58.0 % on standart weight and 2.3 % mild obese. Most of the students eat their foods in school canteens and cafeterias. The fast foods that the students frequently eat out of home are hamburger with sauce, döner (bread with grilled meat), fried potatoes and chocalates. They usually drink cola drinks, ayran and sometimes fresh fruit juices.
