The Prevalance of Ohesity in Women Living in Diyarbakır and The Analysis of Some Effecting Factors

Abstract

This investigation was carrıed out in four primary health centers located in the çenter of Diyarbakır. 818 randomly selected women participated in the study. Descriptive study was conducted by using questionnaire. Women's weight and length measurements w er e evaluated by using Body Mass Index (BMI). (BMI över 25). The results showed t hat, 47.41% of the women were obese. Majority of obese women (54.62%) aged between 21-35 year s old. Obesitiy was mor e prevalent in housemves (80.41%), in women without education (61.60%) and in married women (85.31%). There were significant relation between low menarche age hormonal contraception usage and obesity. The frequency of obesity was iııcreasing by the increase of nıımber of birth (p<0.001).
