A well controlled clinical trial of alcohol consumption is not possible to establish a direct link between alcohol and reduction in coronary heart disease. A large number of recent observational studies have demofistrated a reduction in coronary heart disease with limited (one or two exchange drink daily) consumption of alcohol. hı persons who consume more thatı this amount, total mortality and risk of other diseases such as cirrhosis, stroke, pancreatitis, hypertension increase rapidly. Any recommendation about consumption of alcohol must take into account of age,family history, occupational, health and social conditions of an individual.
