Abstract

In this research, the vitamin C levels o f urine and blood serum of the youth are examincd according to smokuıg habits and is intended to exattıine the effects of the daily ratıo and the period of smoking cigarette on the vitamin C levels of urirıe and blood serum. The sample of the study consisted of 245 studeııts, 82 smoking, 163 nonsınokirıg frotn Faculties of Medical Science and Education of the Selçuk University in Konya. 1 he diagnostıc datıını aboııt these subjects, who were randomly seLec ted mere obtained by a questionnaire. Body Mass Itulices were calculated a f ter the heiglıts and the weıghîs of the representatives had been measured. ' he vitamin C levels of urine and blood serum werc measured by 1 Phosphptungustic acid" method. İn conclusion, it u-tf.s: determined that the blood serum vitamin C levels of the nonsmokers were hvofold of the smokers. On the other hand the vitamin C intake levels ofboth groups were approximately equal.
