Abstract

Deficiencies of iodine, iron, folate and essential fatty acids as well as general malnutrition before and during pregnancy cause impairment on the development of central nervous system ofthefetus and debiliate cognitive function consequently. Malnutrition during first months of life also cause similar impairment on cognitive ability. Adequate and balanced nutrition and use of iodized salt before and during preqnancy and Lactation are very iınportant for having physically and mentally healthy children
