The Knowledge, Attıtude and Behavıor Of The Mothers Of 0-12 Months Old Chıldren In Umraniye Regıon

Abstract

This cross-sectional study was carried out by interviewing the mothers of 187 ehilden 0-12 months o f age in the health center area o f Ümraniye, Istanbul. It was found that 87% o f the 0-3 months old children, 74.2% of the 4-6 months old children were still being breastfed; whereas these percentages were 43.5% and 44.8% in the 7-9 months and 10-12 months respectively. Only 50% o f the 0-3 months old children were being exclusively breastfed and 31.1 % were given pudding type o f starch food. Among all mothers 50.3% had tried formula milk and 78.9% had given colostrum.
