In this study, eating habits o f 273 students who were selected by a systematic sampling among 736 pupils studying at the first, second and third years o f the Faculty o f Medicine at Ondokuz Mayıs University betveen January-March, 1993; were evaluated. It was found that 32 percent o f students skip breakfast, 19 percent consumed only a crisp at breakfast. Although breakfast is free and served well at the dormitories, only 21% o f the students living in there were having breakfast, the others mentioned that they prefere sleeping. It was found that at lunch time 17 percent ate only crisps, 39 percent consumed the food they purchased from the canteen, like cheese sandwich, hamburger, biscuits, chocolate, cookies, etc. and 38 percent had their lunch at cafeteria. Sixty one percent o f the students were having dinner at home, 32 percent at the dormitory, 7.5 percent at the restaurant.
