Abstract

Lipids are used in patients for their low respiratory quotient and low CO2 production, they are also used for the non-protein energy requirements o f patients in respiratory insufficiency. In order to be succesful in the nutritional support the requirements o f the patients and the specific effects o f the nutrients should be taken in to consideration, hi this paper one pediatric case whom energy requirement was provided 55% from lipids, 28% from carbonhydrates and 17% from proteins (Puhnocare) is reported.
