Abstract

Night Eating Syndrome is a clinical condition which is chracterized by morning anorexia, evening hyperphagia and insomnia. Although prevalence in population varies in different patient groups; 1.5% observed in general. Night Eating Syndrome is more common in insomnia, obesity, eating disorders and psychiatric diseases. Daily eating pattern presents a significant increase in the evening and/ or during the night. Patients consume a great part of daily energy intake after the evening meal. This is also associated with obesity and diabetes. Diagnostic criteria developed by experts working in this field in 2008 at International Symposium on Night Eatings. Pharmacotherapy, cognitive behavioral therapy and relaxation therapy are reported in treatment. In this review; diagnosis, clinical presentation, clinical significance, evaluation, and treatment approaches, cognitive behavioral therapy in Night Eating Syndrome are revealed with information on nutrition education and nutrition as part of the solution are discussed.
