Nutritional Support in A Child With Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia Suffered Diarrhea

In hospitalized children with leukemia who are treated by chemoterapy and radioterapy, frequently suffered diarrhea and developed acute malnutrition, lossed energy and nutrients that resulted in lack of appetite. This condition makes dietary intake difficult and also decreases the tolerance of chemoterapy. For this reason, nutritional condition of children with leukemia is needed to be followed after diagnosis and during treatment. Nutritional support and necessary immunonutrition are needed to added to treatment. We discussed a child with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) suffered from febrile neutropenia and gastroenteritis while taking induction chemoterapy. This child is treated with appropreate nutritional support.
