Abstract

Diabetes is one of the fastest growing diseases in the world. Chromium is an essential nutrient for carbohydrate metabolism. Chromium supplementation has been shown to improve glucose metabolism in many of the studies. However, concern exists about the possible effects of chromium. Magnesium is an another nutrient which is associated with diabetes. Epidemiologic studies showed a high prevalence of hypomagnesamia in diabetic patients. Magnesium plays an important role in insulin activitiy. An inverse association between magnesium intake and risk of diabetes has been found in many of studies.
