Abstract

Equipped with physiological and biochemical mechanisms, our cells metabolize harmful substances and remove them from our body with the help of the chemicals and enzymes they produce. In recent years, the tripeptide called glutathione, which consists of three non-essential amino acids and is described as having a strong antioxidant effect, has begun to be administered parenterally with many claims, including rejuvenation and skin bleaching. However, sufficient scientific research results have not yet been published to test the accuracy of these claims on humans. Glutathione can be synthesized in the liver. Parenteral administration of glutathione is still a very controversial issue. In this editorial article, the subject is discussed on the axis of adequate, balanced and healthy (YDS) nutrition.
