Abstract

The incidence of type 2 diabetes mellitus and metabolic syndrome in obese children and adolescents has increased in recent years. Spending too much time in front of the screen and wrong eating habits are among the factors that cause this situation. Unhealthy eating behaviors such as excess fat, sweet/salty snacks, consumption of carbonated beverages, and small amounts of fruit and vegetables accompanying a sedentary lifestyle are directly related to obesity. Poor eating habits and a sedentary lifestyle gained in childhood are especially important as they affect the adult life of the child. On the other hand, different countries and regions have a wide variety of cultures and socioeconomic status that dominate and influence their dietary habits. In this article, medical nutrition treatments of a pediatric case with concomitant type 2 diabetes mellitus and metabolic syndrome, planned with the approach of Turkey and Poland, are presented.
