Medical Nutrition of Adult Patients Receiving Renal Replacement Therapy: A Case Report

The prevalence of renal failure has been rising rapidly throughout the world, and in Turkey. Renal replacement therapies inculude hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis and transplantation. Hemodialysis has been the most common type of treatment modality (76.1%), followed by transplantation (19.2%) and peritoneal dialysis (4.7%). Depending on the type of treatment modality, the effects on the nutritional status and nutritional requirements may change. In this case report, medical nutrition therapy of a patient who received different renal replacement therapies after being diagnosed with chronic renal failure was discussed.
